lesson no.18 Q5. Define Arithmetic Mean. What Does It Reflect?

Definition: Arithmetic mean is the average of a group of numbers. It is calculated by adding all the values and dividing the total by the number of values.

What does it reflect?

Arithmetic mean reflects the central or average value of a dataset.

It gives us an idea of the overall data. Every value affects the mean.

Example:

Suppose five students get these marks:

40, 50, 60, 70, 80

The arithmetic mean is 60. It represents the average marks of the five students.

Remember for exams:

  • Arithmetic mean means average.
  • It reflects the central value of the data.
  • Every data value influences the mean.
